Two staff nurses have joined the trust as part of a programme which has supported their transition from student nurse to staff nurse.
Annice Grundy and Katrina Glorney (pictured with educational mentors Helen Sutherland and Janet Varga) have been helped by the trust’s FINEST (Faculty of Interprofessional Education and Staff Training) programme.
Nurses rotate through three different clinical areas over a year including medicine, surgery and A&E.
They are given structured education opportunities to consolidate what they are learning on the ward alongside the clinical experience they have gained.
FINEST lead Helen Sutherland said: “We recognise newly qualified members of staff are the talent of the future and hope that offering support and education will result in caring, competent nurses of the future. More posts are planned for next year. Anyone due to qualify in 2017 should contact myself for details.”
Annice has been working in the surgery/urology ward, while Katrina is based in the acute cardiac unit.
